Adorable Home

We just moved into this house. This is my newly remodeled kitchen.
As you can see I have very little counter space. It is so stark. How can I decorate it without using too much space. It is grey and white cupboards so a splash of color would help.

I have undercounted lighting. I don't have room for an island nor can I change the hardware. Thanks for your suggestions.

Any advice on how to tone down the orange in these natural cherry cabinets. Painting is not an option. I was considering painting the walls SW Eider White (a white with gray tones). The windows in the picture face directly toward the setting sun. Thanks for your consideration,
