So far we have sent / allocated about $74.3 billion dollars to Ukraine over the past 2 years. In terms of one’s personal wealth? Obscene. In terms of our government’s budget for overall spending? Not much at all. Much of the allocations were to send older equipment and munitions from our own stockpiles, which then are replaced with newer weapons and technology.
Meanwhile our chief adversary has lost an estimated 300,000 invaders and an awful lot of military equipment. Including several warships - to a country without a navy. A country who is fighting the fight - putting their bodies on the line - to keep Putin from invading other sovereign nations. If he decides he wants to try it with Poland or another NATO country then we *will* be at war.
Time to start demonstrating outside GOP Reps offices. I don’t live in Joe Wilson’s district, but I’ll join a picket line. Please call your Representatives, especially if you live in a Republican district.
Thank you to all who voted for me recently in the Free Times Poll - I may not have won, but I was incredibly honored to be nominated and get an honorable mention two years in a row. It’s a really weird time to be a massage therapist, but I love what I do, and I’m incredibly grateful to have such wonderful clients. 🙏🙏🙏
Hello, everyone!
I hope this post finds you all well - and vaccinated against COVID-19. With the Delta variant on the rise, it is more crucial than ever to get vaccinated if you haven’t already. Please, please get your shot.
For those who are not yet vaccinated - misinformation has run rampant for several years about vaccines in general. And to be honest with you, it was once easier for me to shrug off issues like vaccinating your children because, well, I don’t have any. Didn’t really feel like I had a proverbial dog in that fight, and sure, an outbreak of measles might be possible - but it didn’t really *feel* like a threat.
Covid is a threat.
And while there may be a very small number of breakthrough infections, or complications outside of anticipated immune reactions (which are normal and to be expected) - please remember these are a minuscule percentage of the number of fully or partially vaccinated people in the US.
Per World of Data, as of July 11:
Fully vaccinated - 159,266,536 (43.5%)
Partly vaccinated - 184,132,768 (56.1%)
You may hear about a handful - literally, single digit numbers in headlines re: breakthrough infections or major complications - and sure, we need that information. But please keep it in perspective with the total number vaccinated, the approximately 34,000,000 cases we’ve had…
and the over 600,000 people here in the US who have died already.
Vaccines may not completely prevent infection - but they will almost certainly protect you from severe illness and death. Folks that medical personnel are treating in hospitals now are almost all unvaccinated (or possibly partly vaccinated.)
Covid deaths are almost exclusively unvaccinated people.
Please get your shot. I have been very quiet on this page, still - it still feels very strange, to be honest, trying to build my practice during a pandemic. And the early part of this year was a really rough time - I needed to take a break. And I’ll be honest - and this is not easy to put out there - my energy is still kind of flickering at times. And I’m not renting an office space until this is over and done with - so I’m still doing home visits. I am vaccinated; if you are, too, then you don’t have to wear a mask. I still will be, to be honest, but after wearing two masks and a face shield through the fall, I feel positively carefree 😅
If you aren’t vaccinated…for now I will still see you, but I require you to wear a mask. Not negotiable. At all. If you’re nervous about getting the shot, I’d love to persuade you. But the longer these variants run rampant, the more likely they will continue to mutate. Delta is more contagious, and more likely to be lethal or cause severe illness in younger people.
Please get your shot(s).
