Meet Dan from Olympia, WA! Owner of print number 5 of square P1P1. We met in the fall of 2024 while traveling through Scandinavia. Below are answers to the seven questions I asked him while sitting in the lobby of a hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark on September 2, 2024.

1. What do you do? What is your occupation? /// For 25 years, helped people make money.
2. Where is “home” to you? /// on the lake
3. What is something you did as a kid that brought you joy? /// Running. Ran 1,400 miles in 2020!
4. There are many different ways in which we categorize ourselves (e.g. race, s*x, nationality, occupation, religion, socioeconomic status, political party, etc.) How do you first connect with others? /// Sports. Common interests — sports (Mariners, Seahawks), running. Curiosity about how the world works.
5. What’s your gift? What are you really good at? Are you sharing it with others? /// Explaining complex things in a simple manner. “Curse of logic.” Can think like a lawyer but isn’t a lawyer (although lawyers run in the family). Self-employed so, yes, is sharing it with others!
6. Is nothing something? /// I see the nothing before I see something. [Note: I wrote down “Baltic Sea and bridge” with this question. I recall Dan talked about the longest bridge in Europe that we had crossed the previous day — the Øresund Bridge — which spans the strait that connects the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.]
7. What are words of wisdom you would tell the descendant of your square who lives 100 years from now — the person you will never meet but who will hold the very object you hold now? /// Unsure. The world will be dramatically different.
