In Ethiopia, Christmas—called Gena—is celebrated on January 7.
This is because the Ethiopian Orthodox Church follows the Julian calendar, not the Gregorian calendar used by most of the world.
Gena is a deeply spiritual day marked by prayer, fasting, and beautiful church celebrations that go back centuries.
It’s a time of faith, tradition, and community—celebrated in ancient churches and passed down through generations.
