Monday morning design meeting with the team as we progress with the former Huntington Theater project.

The first Huntington was erected in 1903-1904 at a cost of approximately $40,000. It was one year to the day after the site was selected that the theater opened to the public (November 3, 1904). This is the same year our current courthouse and city building was constructed.

The building was renovated again in 1929-1930 to make changes with the times and convert the building to show movies. Both interior & exterior changes were made. It reopened to the public on January 5, 1930.

The third renovation happened just a few years later in 1938 and lasted aprox 2 years. This was an extensive renovation, converting it to a new art-deco look, removal of the 2nd balcony, a new roof, and extensive interior renovations. It opened to the public on September 12, 1940.

In 2020 we started the 4th major renovation to the exterior of the property.

Photo circa early 1905.
