Checkpoints are often toted as a necessary for public saftey, an active step to curbing drinking and driving. Because they are ineffective in stopping people from drunk driving authorities are giving them different names like "license checkpoint". Taking the opportunity to get a better perspective on these operations from the sidelines is one way to see how some(most) are completely content with intrusion in their lives. After all its for their "saftey".
last night a fleeing on foot suspect prompted a mass amount of resources(20+jack-boots, HELI, K-9x2) be allocated to the area of Alabama, lake and Indianapolis streets leading to a search lasting a couple hours. more to come on this including a residence that was wrongfully searched without permission of its residents.
