Oasis Travel Solutions' top priority is the safety of our customers. Hurricane Irma is a major storm coursing through the Caribbean and forecast to make landfall in Southern Florida, which is home to many major travel suppliers, this weekend.

1. GET INFORMED NOW. Check with travel suppliers, cruiselines, vacation companies, etc. Many have already issued specific instructions and changes to itineraries or cancellations. If you have not received these email notices for trips you have booked, get in touch with the supplier immediately and make sure you get the same information in writing.

2. CHANGE WAIVERS. Airlines and other suppliers are offering to waive fees for flight changes and other travel modifications, on specific dates and within specific parameters related to the storm. Check with your suppliers and then get written confirmation for these changes BUT HIGHLY advised you to make them directly, and soon as possible.

3. TRAVEL INSURANCE. Hopefully you made a wise decision to accepted - travel insurance for your trip. Or signed the insurance waiver that was provided if you've declined. In the case of natural disasters like a hurricane, travel insurance does not always apply. Check with the insurance provider for each trip for any coverage or special instructions to cancel plans or make a claim.

4. ADVICE. Do not receive advice on whether to take the trip, take shelter, evacuate, etc., other than official notice from suppliers or government agencies. It is very important we don't endanger ourselves. Take emergency instructions only from the experts and refer to official government websites and notices. Always advise to take care, follow instructions from authorities, and keep your own safety as the top priority.
