Early clinicians took these observations and made the erroneous conclusion that BPD is a mild form of psychosis or is some sort of pre-psychosis, and we know today that isnt true. BPD is its own distinct condition, but the observations about individuals with BPD sometimes experiencing a break from reality is still true. Many clinicians today believe BPD is a form of CPTSD. BPD is often described as the most painful psychiatric condition.
