Texas has a very progressive probate process compared to many other states and even allows handwritten Wills (with a few simple requirements) to be probated.
It's interesting that this article states that a majority of Gen Xers don’t have any estate planning documents (No will, trust, medical or financial power of attorney, or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) authorization form).
I guess they may still think they will live forever. Only 26% of Americans have a will, the most common estate planning document, the report found. Only 14% have a trust.
