VCSA Walk For Wellness 2014 The goal of VCSA Walk for Wellness 5K is to deliver a community event that promotes a healthy lifestyle. The funds raised from the event will be used to promote wellness in Houston communities through comprehensive and continual educational programs delivered by VCSA.

A friend of VCSA, Dr. Beverly Gor, is currently trying to recruit those Vietnamese American women who have had breast cancer to participate in a study by University of California Los Angeles. The purpose of the study is to understand the experience of breast cancer survivors and as a result, being able to have good recommendation for support network of families of cancer patients.

Breast cancer is the number one cancer for Asian American women and yet we know very little about the experience of these women. Dr. Beverly Gor needs to conduct a focus group of 5-8 Vietnamese breast cancer survivors with the following eligibility criteria:
35-70 years of age
1-5 years from diagnosis
Able to read/write/speak in English or Vietnamese

She would like to conduct this focus group before the end of May 2014. Participants will receive a $50 gift card for completion of the focus group and a survey will be mailed to them later. Upon completion of the survey, they will receive another $40 gift card. They will also be asked to identify one friend or family member who was a caregiver for them during their cancer experience. We will interview that person as well. And he/she will also receive a $50 gift card.
