PressForward 2025 showcases the exceptional work of 23 student printmakers that explore the wide range of traditional and innovative printmaking processes. PressForward entries were open to current high school students and those enrolled in a degree or certificate program.

Juror J. Leigh Garcia is an artist and Professor in Printmaking at the University of Tennessee School of Art. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Garcia received her MFA and MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and BFA from the University of North Texas. She has received numerous awards for her work. Following the roots of her own ancestry, Garcia uses printmaking, papermaking, and sculpture to explore themes of racial and generational privilege/oppression within Mexican-American populations in Texas.

"At a moment when national conversations in education seek to end diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, it is powerful to see young artists refusing to shy away from these subjects. Their work affirms art’s power to shape culture and stands as a testament to the resilience of marginalized communities. It fills me with hope to know these are the printmakers of our future." – J. Leigh Garcia
