Last night owes me NOTHING. The premiere of UNBOUND was beautiful, heartwarming and needed. Everyone who was meant to be in the room was in the room and it felt like family. Thank you to everyone who created space in their busy lives to show up, to bring positivity, to add to the conversation. Thank you for the hugs, for the encouraging words, for the gift of you. Looks like we’re taking a trip to Atlanta! Our short film “Dear Brown Girl” is an official selection of the Black Girls Rock! Film Festival!

Based on TaKiyah Wallace-McMillian’s photo project turned non-profit organization Brown Girls Do Ballet®, “Dear Brown Girl” is a love letter to brown ballerinas everywhere that aims to encourage and inspire them as they follow their dreams.

Collaborating with and is the stuff of dreams. And witnessing the talent and brilliance of brown ballerinas nationwide brings so much joy to this dance mama’s heart.

Thank you all for taking the ride with me. And buckle up cause we’re just getting started. 😉

Life in the Nickel is back! On July 29 at 1:30pm I will be having a screening and talkback of my short documentary that examines the notions of community, education, and wellness through the eyes of three people whose roots run deep in Houston's Historic 5th Ward. I hope to see you there!
