Save the Date cards have become mainstream, so here are some tips to make them as effective as possible:
1. Postcards will work, but keep in mind that USPS metering equipment and handling can result in them arriving soiled and "mail worn". Use them only if your budget is very tight.
2. If you have a website, please print it on your Save the Date cards, even if the site is still in development. Your guests will want to get a head start on their travel plans.
3. Mailing on these can be done up to a year ahead. I've had numerous brides call me three months before the wedding to order Save the Date cards. I usually tell them to save their cash, and just send invitations out a bit early. Get those Save the Date cards out early!
4. Please be sure you have photo rights to any professional photo you plan to use for your cards. If your photographer has given you electronic, full resolution photos, you can usually assume you have the right to send them for reproduction.
Wedding season is in full swing for us stationers and January is often our busiest month! Since summer events are popular, we are working on orders now. Be sure to book early for your summer or early fall wedding.
