By just 20 years old, John Longoria had already endured four major surgeries tied to the sports he loved most. From two torn shoulders, a shattered finger, and a devastating ACL tear, every setback tested him physically and emotionally. Everything changed when his family physician referred him to Jessica L. Traver, MD, orthopedic surgeon at UT Physicians, who helped guide him through years of recovery alongside a dedicated team of specialists.

Through personalized care, rehabilitation, and support focused on both his body and mindset, John fought his way back stronger each time. What began as a difficult healing journey ultimately inspired a new calling.

Hot flashes. Brain fog. Mood changes. Unexpected weight gain. For millions of women, these symptoms can begin years before menopause during a phase called perimenopause, a stage that often goes unrecognized in routine care.

This transition can last up to a decade, affecting physical health, mental clarity, and daily life. When it is not recognized, women are left questioning themselves instead of getting answers.

At UT Physicians, OB-GYN experts are working to close this gap in care, helping women understand the hormonal changes happening in their bodies and offering guidance on how to manage them.

Learn what perimenopause looks like and what you can do about it. Read the full article in the comments.
