I don’t usually post about politics, but I recently had a chance to connect with someone who truly impressed me. A few months ago, I met a couple while consulting on a solar and battery project for their home. Getting to know them, it was clear they are genuinely "special" people who care about our city’s future.

One of them, Laura Gallier, is now running for Houston City Council, District C. I’m sure we all know what this is on the power pole. If you don’t, this is a transformer and it will feed power to your house and possibly a few of your neighbors as well. This one is a pretty big transformer and what I want o share with you is the number on the front.

This is a 100kVA transformer and what that means when or if, you or any of your neighbors that are connected to that transformer want to go solar, then you have to get an interconnect agreement with Centerpoint. And when Centerpoint looks at the equipment on your house, they are going to determine if the size solar system you are putting on your home is the right size for the transformer to handle it, as the transformer is rated to receive up to 80% of the rated name plate or YOU the homeowner has to pay to upgrade it…

That is outside of the solar company’s control. However , that is why you work with someone like me!
