Dash cam installations have been on the rise lately, and with around 7.5 billion commercial vehicles expected to be on the road by 2027, it’s without a doubt that dash cams will continue to grow in popularity. Besides the obvious help to fleet management, dash cams come with cool features such as drowsiness detection, speed limit violations, distracted driving alerts, and collision warning features. With a 60% increase in safe driving compliance, dash cams can help drivers improve their skills and bring distracted driving accidents to an all-time low, helping fleet managers keep their teams as safe as possible. Using dash cams like the Driveri 360, managers can coach their drivers and gain their participation, which in the long run will help the company, its drivers, and those sharing the road with them. The data collected for each driver will increase their compliance, implementing many benefits for each driver and the company.
Dash cams in fleet management are not only encouraging proper driver etiquette, they are also protecting companies from possible insurance fraud. One company reports that with the additional visibility into the cabs of company vehicles while they are in the field, they see numerous benefits in their day-to-day operations far beyond the safety of their drivers. Footage from dash cams can assist by backing up drivers when customers call with questions or complaints. For example, a customer questioning the number of hours billed for time onsite can be provided with video evidence and time stamps to protect their company’s integrity.
Dash cams are providing fleet managers opportunities to motivate with positive coaching, and to correct dangerous behavior when present. In the big picture, dash cams are quickly reducing distracted driving, theft, possible insurance fraud, and claims of service failures with a live time stamp. With the technology to help across so many different scenarios, it’s no wonder dash cams are growing in popularity among fleet managers across the country.
