Advanced Programming Systems
09/05/2022
I see a lot of coaches get new clients and only focus on their goals.
Goals are important but they aren’t everything.
For example, if my niece wanted to learn how to drive, I wouldn’t send her to nascar.
1️⃣ 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁
2️⃣ 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗶𝘁?
𝙏𝙝𝙀 𝙋𝙚𝙍𝙛𝙀𝙘𝙏 𝙥𝙍𝙤𝙂𝙧𝘼𝙢 isn’t perfect if your client can’t keep up with it or doesn’t want to keep up with it.
THE best program for your client is 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮.
🌈 No I don’t think fitness is all sunshine and rainbows. 🌞
There will be times they won’t want to lift or track etc.
BUT… that’s why it’s so important to have a program they can do.
Because it’s inevitable that there will be sacrifice and discipline will have to take over.
So making a program that’s already too advanced or difficult for them is just a sure fire way to get them to quit.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙣-𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙩? 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩?
I’ve had numerous clients tell me their last coach or PT only barked orders at them.
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦.
Unfortunately there’s a lot of entitled and lazy coaches who have the “shut up and just trust me!” mentality.
$3k PIF to blindly trust you…?
$3k PIF to shut up?
Wow.
And yet here we are. Your clients are annoyed.
But that’s not your fault. It’s theirs… right?
Look. A successful business means successful clients. Successful clients mean resigns and referrals.
Don’t get me wrong… every coach has a client that’s just not built for this.
BUT… educate your clients instead of just barking demands and watch your business grow.

𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙪𝙥𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨.
That’s a stretch.
Now I ALSO see a ton of coaches making their warm ups more and more complex.
If your warm ups are 30+ minutes long…
𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘯.
But before we say if warm ups are pointless or warm ups are imperative, let’s look at the science.
A good warm up has the ability to do the following:
⭐️ 𝙒𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙤 𝟴𝙓 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙙
⭐️ 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 (𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙚𝙧)
⭐️ 𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙡𝙪𝙞𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨 (𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚’𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙨)
⭐️ 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣
⭐️ 𝙒𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙨
⭐️ 𝙉𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙮𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙏𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙙
⭐️ 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙭𝙮𝙜𝙚𝙣-𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝘼𝙏𝙋 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚.
A good warm up design looks like this:
1️⃣ 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙪𝙥 𝙗𝙮 𝟷-𝟸 𝙙𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙨
2️⃣ 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚
3️⃣ 𝙍𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣
4️⃣ 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 3️⃣ 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 4️⃣.
Not warming up appropriately is literally how you create pain or injure yourself.
Warming up for too long and doing too many complicated things is a waste of time.
It’s a spectrum like most things.

Our values determine the metrics by which we measure ourselves and everyone else.
Happiness, success and pleasure are all SIDE EFFECTS.
So let’s look at it this way…
If an individual said, “I want to be popular!”
This metric of success is 100% determined by OTHERS. We have zero control over it AND we’ll likely never know the truth. So their level of popularity will always be a guess and this never fulfilled.
If an individual instead said, “I want to work on my social game.”
This metric is 100% controlled and can be assessed. If someone has a problem with them, they can take responsibility and grow. If someone enjoys what they did or who they are, they can take responsibility and grow.
Some thing applies when being a coach. MANY of us measure our success based on our clients successes.
Which in reality we have zero control over
And thus, it’s a bad metric.
Instead we need to measure our success based on how well we guide. How well we coach. Having the “I did everything I could for them, they weren’t compliant this isn’t on me” is actually extremely healthy and not entitled at all.
Unless of course they neglected their client and still blame them. Then yes that’s being entitled.
Point is. Focus on being a good guide. Stop pressing Carol to get her s**t together so YOU can feel better.
It’s not their responsibility to make you successful.
It’s yours and yours alone.
