Once upon a time, Marine Reserve-run Toys for Tots got help from the animator and businessman who created some of the most iconic children’s films of the 20th century.

More than seven decades ago, Walt Disney and his studio designed the original logo for Toys for Tots, an initiative that helps Santa deliver toys to children in low-income families, according to a Wednesday Disney press release about its annual Toys for Tots drive.

Former Defense Secretary Ash Carter died Monday evening after a heart attack, according to a family statement. He was 68.

Carter, a native of Philadelphia, served in the top Defense Department role under President Barack Obama from 2015 to 2017. He also served in a variety of other Pentagon leadership roles over five presidential administrations.
