Variable-speed compressors cause an air conditioner to be "variable
speed". The benefits are:
QUIETNESS - quiet enough to be on a patio or by a bedroom window.
SUPER-HIGH EFFICIENCY - SEER 18 or above, at SEER 20 saving 30%.
LOWER HUMIDITY - 50% Relative Humidity between noon and 10 pm
LOWER ELECTRICITY USAGE BY FURNACE BLOWER - 1) variable-speed blower motors use 1/3 to 1/5 the kw of a conventional blower motor and 2) on low speed for only filtering the air, about 1/10 the power is used.
