The amount of times I hear “I have some work stress” only to look through paperwork and see a WHOLE different story… well let’s just say it’s a lot.

I’m glad that in some instances the stigma against therapy and mental health is improving (slowly though don’t get it twisted). However, I personally before that for many people we are slapping depression and anxiety labels on things and pretending it’s the whole picture.

It’s not.
Those symptoms come from somewhere.
One more time, symptoms that look like depression and anxiety come from somewhere.

For the people I work with, it’s complex trauma.

I guess what I mean to say to you is that if you’ve dealt with symptoms, tried anxiety, but don’t feel like you are where you want to be…. Something else might be going on.

Around here we believe our bodies are strong & resilient.

Shin splints are a very common injury for runners. Not just long distance (although this is the most common) but these can occur in anyone who runs a lot.

Classical advice is to ice, and while that helps the pain it doesn’t do much to treat these if they are recurring.

The primary cause of shin splints is load management, which means you are running to much (whether it’s to often, to far, or to fast).

But sometimes, especially for athletes, we can only do so much to lower the load and we have to start building up tolerance.

This is one rehab plan to do that. It will work on strengthening, stretching, and getting some dynamic input into the body so we start increasing our ability to handle stress.

What do you want to know about someone before deciding if they could be a good fit as a therapist for you?

Therapy is all about the relationship. Which means it’s impossible for my clients to not impact and influence me, just like I do for them.

And while yes, I do talk about the benefit of journaling for people, I can’t say I’ve ever recommended a therapy specific journal. In my small sample size however, it appears that keeping a therapy journal really has a positive impact on the overall therapy experience and the clients availity to recognize their own progress.

I’ve actually started my own therapy journal now and the slowing down and reflecting about therapy before and after sessions has made me feel much more grounded in the process.

Tell me what tips and tricks you use to help make your therapy experiences more meaningful👇🏻

Therapy is often only 1 hour once a week.
The real change happens outside of sessions.

I described it to someone the other day that therapy is like an on ramp, you still have to drive to your destination.

Therapy has sooooo much nuance and variables involved in it. Drop your questions and concerns below and let’s see what we can clear up ⬇️
