BAD DOG CLUB
One of the biggest things for me having a senior dog is making sure I keep her MOVING. The last two winters have gotten a little tough for her with the ice, extremely low temps, and mountains of snow. Even though she loves winter (mostly eating snow), it’s been hard to find ways to get her out, about and moving comfortably in a way that won’t have her super sore after. BAD DOG CLUB getting a slat mill has been a game changer for her this year!
ANDDDD can’t forget to mention there’s SO many positives it has introduced into our lives. It has built her confidence doing something completely and utterly new OUTSIDE of her home. As well as given us another activity to bond over (which I am forever grateful to be able to still experience firsts with her).
Keeping an older dog moving as they age is huge for their physical and mental well being. The saying “Use it or Lose it” applies. If we aren’t keeping them active, they may lose the ability to comfortably move around, ultimately eliminating any physical activities in their golden years.
While our training sessions and walks aren’t as strenuous as they used to be, the walks we have now are still enjoyable for her. She is still learning new tricks that are out of reach for your average senior dog.
And why is she different?
Because I make the extra effort to work with her and maintain her body instead of just letting her snooze the day away at home.
Enjoying the slat mill doesn’t have to look like a dog going full out on it every time. Sometimes it can look like a jaunty walk while mom cheers you on at the front (and preferably has a stinky pig ear to bite at).
So if you’re questioning whether your older dog is “too old” to find enjoyment in movement, message us! We would love to chat about your senior dog and see if this is a new activity you both can find happiness in!
We have lots of slat mill rental times for the rest of March! Get on in them NOW! 🏃♀️ 💨
