I have been sooo obsessed with Pitaya/dragon fruit lately. Super fascinated in their life cycle. Along my weekend journey down in Napo`oPo`o- Kealakekua Bay...I discovered these stunning lil things! Hylocereus Undatis flower buds galore! The flowers are sometimes called Queen of the Night for their nocturnal bloom, or Moonflower. Fruits of Hylocereus contain high amounts of vitamin C, potassium, minerals and fiber, though it is not clear that these nutritional benefits are present in the same amounts in the flower bud. Flower bud initiation is tied into the moon cycle with the majority of flower bud initiation occurring around the new and full moons. Super fitting to during the Autumnal equinox full moon phase in Aries🌕 💞 💞
