“In my opinion, the mental health crisis is the biggest problem facing our society today. I’m hard-pressed to think of anyone who has not been adversely affected by a mental health situation one way or the other. The good news is that mental health services are making a strong comeback and a variety of those are doing really good work right here in Hilo. Personally, I’ve been drawn to the Clubhouse, a community mental health center located at the old mini-golf building. The people are nice and I feel a special warmth whenever I go there. There are also many other worthy programs on our island and in our state which may appeal to others. It is just my hope that one the occasion of Mental Health Awareness Month, we all devote some of our personal resources toward improving the availability of mental health care and assistance for those in need.” Aaron Chung frmr County Councilman District 2
