No fiscal impact?
I understand that isn’t true, and residents frustrated by the public benefits charges on their electric bills do too. Ratepayers hoping the legislature would tackle high electric bills this session are in for not just disappointment, but a gut punch.
At the 11th hour, Democrats are pushing through H.B. 5340, which doubles down on costly green energy subsidies by replacing a solar program that was set to expire with a brand-new one. It not only keeps electric ratepayers on the hook, but you’re also going to be responsible for subsidizing clean energy projects that use natural gas.
The bill passed the House last week. It awaits action in the Senate.
