I drew SOS in early 2025. I was in the middle of grieving my country, and not yet sure what to do or where to go to be safe. There was such a barrage of policies aimed at not only the LGBTQIA+ community, but at anyone who wasnāt a white, cis, straight, male, that it was overwhelming. I felt hopeless. And scared.
In the middle of all of that grief, I also noted how angry Iād become. I was angry at everyone who voted for Trump, and at anyone who supported MAGA. Iām not someone who is an angry person, and I didnāt like how much I felt Iād changed.
Iām still angry at MAGA, and every person who voted for him, but I feel like Iām on more stable ground than I was when I drew this.
š Hi! Iām Chris. Iām an LGBTQIA+ digital scratchboard artist.
I believe that everybody deserves to feel accepted, not just tolerated. I love nature, and find that it helps me get back to myself. Part of that is drawing animals because theyāre a part of nature and ecosystems just like we are.

When I was drawing the pride cat to add to my Pride animal warriors collection, I drew it standing still. I didnāt like that compositionāit felt too staticāso I redrew it to the one charging forward, which I like much better.
Which do you prefer?

When They Rip Apart Our Color, How Dull the World Will Be
This is a bit of a darker piece. I drew this in July of 2025, while I was still in the process of grieving what felt like (and still feels like) the loss of my country. I was preparing to move to Canada to live with friends.
Iād wanted to express that feeling of the world turning against us. They want to stomp us out, and rip us up. But diversity is beautiful. Without diversity, the world would be a very dull place.

Rabbits are highly athletic and social. They do a spinning, kicking leap called a binky when theyāre happy, and will even chitter their teeth together to purr.
Despite popular belief, carrots are not a good addition to a rabbitās diet, except as an occasional treat.
And, what could be better during Pride month than dapper rapier wielding rabbit?

Weāve been here since humans first walked the Earth, and we will be here long after weāre all gone.
We are Eternal.

Otters are quite persnickety, with meticulous grooming habits, fussy diets, and strong boundaries. Whether you are a human, dog, or otter, theyāll defend their territories with strong jaws, and sharp claws.
This Pride otter is equally ready to defend our community, with the added bonus of a spear to help.

Happy Pride Month!
Iām a nonbinary digital scratchboard artist.
Thereās been a growing hatred toward our community. Iāve fled my former country in the US to live with friends in Canada. Iāve watched and grieved as the US became worse and worse. My former country labeled us terrorists because we exist.
Sometimes I see people complain about the need for a Pride month. They claim weāre already equal. But my former country claims transgender ideology is terrorism. Iām illegal in over 60 countries. Iāve been shoved into a wall because Iām gay. Iāve been told I should be sh0t, Iāve been told Iām not worth the ground holding me up, and things that are even worse. We are not equal, and thereās still a long way to go.
But there are so many people that support us. There may be a loud group that wants to rip us apart, but there is an equally fierce group that would stand up for us.
I have so many family and friends that support me. One of my very best friends is an amazing person and incredible ally to our community. She focuses on CPTSD and healingāsomething our community really needs right now.
Weāre not alone in our fight for equality. This particular piece is titled ā I see the Universe in your Soul.ā I meant it as a message of hope in these dark times. Weāve existed for as long as humans have walked the Earth. Weāre beautiful. Weāre eternal. Weāre human. Happy Pride.
