Can one rainforest experience ripple across hundreds of classrooms? Today 18 teachers are heading home from the Educator Academy equipped with inquiry-driven, STEM-based strategies that bring biodiversity and sustainability to life - all rooted in their Amazon experience and Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) principles. They now join a community of practice made up of nearly 300 Morpho educators. We can't wait to see how this transforms their teaching! Get ready to join us in 2027. Enrollment opens Sept. 15th and spots fill quickly!
Over the last two days, teachers participating in our annual Educator Academy in the Amazon had the amazing opportunity to learn from Indigenous leader, activist, teacher, and Morpho friend, Sebastian Rios Ochoa. Sebastian is a singular force in Indigenous conservation and is the catalyst who led the Maijuna efforts to reclaim their ancestral lands in Northern Peru. Nearly a million acres are now protected thanks to his vision and leadership. It is Morpho’s great honor and privilege to collaborate with Sebastian and other Maijuna community leaders to co-create learning opportunities for our participants. Our partnership is rooted in respect, trust, and equity and we are so fortunate to share this with the educators@who join us each summer.
Additional thanks to OnePlanet Perú and Amazon Explorama Lodges for partnership in this endeavor.

Day 6 of the Educator Academy in the Amazon started with a master class in Arthropods with entomologists Kristie Reddick and Jessica Honaker (aka The Bug Chicks). There is nothing quite like learning about species and adaptations in an ecosystem like the Amazon! It changes the way you teach when you get back to your classroom.
