Behold! The infamous Rock Lobster!
This crossing happened at a weird moment while out in nature. A whole bunch of strange things happened at once, and seeing this dude crawl around in the stream right next to my foot was one of them.
Crawfish (Astacoidea Astacidae) are also known as Crayfish, Crawdads, Mountain Lobsters, Freshwater Lobsters, Craydids, Mudbugs, Yabbies, or Baybugs.
They are a good sign for water quality. Crawfish are fragile creatures and cannot survive in even remotely polluted water. Which means if you see one, chances are you're by some clean water.
