Last week, we celebrated the transformational work that can happen through the power of education, access, and a great idea.

President Jen Schottke came to us with a fun branding challenge for a repeatable event. The annual event would be called “The Field Trip,” bringing trades organizations back to the job site that they brought to life. This year’s venue choice was the still-under-construction — a project that WMCI students helped build via their access to jobsite training.

So we got to work, beginning where we always do with mood boards. Immediately, the team rallied around a concept that resonated with people of the trades, one where we invoked the great outdoors, hiking, camping, and the National Parks. We worked through event branding and touchpoints that would feel repeatable year-after-year as the benefit carries onto the next major construction project, while also bringing people across various organizations in as one welcomed whole as a community network tied to WMCI.

We knew the first Field Trip event was going to be deeply meaningful to our client, their donors and their students, but the nature of this transformational entity on the city’s riverfront carries a lot of emotion for many throughout the region. Last week’s event proved just that: a well branded and executed event reminds us all that education and community is worth every dollar invested.
