here's an old profile description from Linkedjn. I was thinking of renewing my work in emergeART and trying to get exposure. I have a new URL emergeART.art which I hope to flesh out. Any one have time to review and critique" I know I often get too wrapped up in my enjoyment of the process of writing (I like to think of myself as a wordsmith hammering heated words into a pleasant form ;-) )I However I do tend to become rather loquacious and bombastic in style (obviously lol)

I work in multiple media, from traditional two dimensional works in pencil, charcoal, pastels and watercolor, as well as photography to material media ranging from ceramics to wood and steel as single or mixed medias as well as perform in the entertainment arts as a jazz vocalist.
Trained as a scientist, engineer and military pilot I have semi-retired and am now embarked on a journey to foster and cultivate the spiritual and artistic nature of my talents. Combined with my technical training and natural creativity I work to develop the fine combination of intellect and intuition that allows me to explore a broad range of media and venues.
I conceived of EmergeART as a vehicle to sell my work that is inspired by the motto, “The Universe is found art, from chaos emerges beauty”. Most of my art is created by traditional methods but often with a new twist or perspective allowed me by my understanding of materials technology developed over years of experience as a chemist, engineer and researcher. This scientific and industrial background allows me an advanced technological perspective and provides me with a unique and intimate knowledge of the real properties of many materials, traditional and exotic. I have worked in craft related "hobbies" from an early age and won multiple awards for my work in several media as a youth. I now plan to use an admixture of these early creative experiences and natural talents with my now advanced knowledge of materials technology to great advantage. Over the years I have developed techniques to craft and shape the more established media such as wood, clay, glass and traditional metals. I also gained insight to fabricate creations in modern and/or exotic materials in which I take of advantage my experience with the properties of advanced ceramics and composite materials as well as aluminum or stainless steel using such tools as TIG welding. Of course, while it may assist in establishing new techniques, no technical knowledge can surpass the need for the eye and skills of an experienced craftsman, and I continue to work on attaining higher levels of craft.
My interest in photography began as a teen and set up my own processing lab and darkroom, building the enlarger from old camera lenses. I have worked in "discount stores" taking baby pictures as well as industrial photography with photos published in "Fleet Owner" magazine published by McGraw Hill. My portfolio spans over 35 years and includes published brochures and catalog leafs as well as fine art and portrait work. I performed design and layout for brochures and catalogs using the "literal" cut and paste techniques of the past but have grown with the industry and have advanced to the use of computer graphics and photographic techniques.
I am also talented in the more traditional visual as well as performing arts. My sketches and paintings mostly indicate innate and raw talent as I lack advanced training . Because I seem to show promise in these amateur efforts I plan on advanced training to develop professionally in these areas. While I am very happy with the work I have done so far I see the limitations due to my lack of experience in some media and I admit I have much to learn in advanced technique. I work constantly to improve in these areas, especially in the theory and practice of the use of color creatively, but feel positive that I can grow and develop my talents in these areas as well, given time.
I occasionally will perform live on stage as a Jazz Vocalist including light comedy in the appropriate venue and have jammed at "The Orbit" as well as performed with the Kerry Campbell Quartet at "Johnny's Uptown" (local Jazz Clubs, both now defunct). Cole Porter is a favorite composer and I admire the vocal talent of Nate King Cole. I am willing and able to sing the entire Jazz Standard repertoire with some modern flavor thrown in for a mix.
I have taught classes and/or tutored in both the arts and advanced science and mathematics as well as worked with adults and children with disabilities in arts and crafts. I also installed a full computer lab and designed and taught the curriculum for a class in basic computer technology at a local charter school.
I became a pilot and rebuilt my first aircraft at the age of 22 and since I have restored antique aircraft and own two antique and classic aircraft, a 1940 Taylorcraft BC-65 and a 1951 Bellanca Cruisemaster and a 2003 Zodiac 601HDS (experimental). I have a BS in both Chemistry and Biology. I worked my way through college as an entrepreneur selling cars and aircraft and as a technician on commercial printing equipment and consumer electronics. I have photographed babies at K-Mart and published commercial industrial photographs. My artwork has been displayed in gallery settings and photos were used in local commercials broadcast during "The Johnny Carson Show" on late night TV. I was featured (with photograph) as a "Latter Day Lindbergh" in a Arkansas Gazette article and appeared on local television and radio interviews (as a chemist for "Breakaway Tech" and as an military officer at Laughlin AFB). I have worked as a technician and chemist in industrial settings and in a crime lab as a toxicologist. I was an engineer in a semiconductor prototype facility working in photo and etch. I was a process troubleshooter for plasma etch equipment for a Motorola subdivision. I sold high technology capital equipment (such as the $1.8M electron microscope at ASU Material Science Dept.) and have been in the "basement labs" of some of the most research facilities in the country (in 1986 I handled a sample of the infamous "o-ring" from the Challenger Shuttle disaster at the Morton Thiokol facility). As a military officer I trained to flight jet aircraft and I have ferried several aircraft across the country. I have been installing and repairing custom computer systems for 15 years. I have a small collection of unique historical aviation artifacts and antique tools.
I've flown biplanes to jets, worked in a crime lab and as a professional photographer as well as a scientist, engineer and consultant. A successful salesman, entrepreneur and artist, I also restore antique aircraft and build and repair computers. Enough?"
