Dear God of generoisty, we thank you for the gifts of creation and fruits of the earth. We thank you for the wonderful opportunity for the families that gather and break bread together. Bless the families that gathered around with love on this day of thanksgiving.

While it is the center of this day, we confess that we are also reckless and wasteful, while our cup overflows out of your abundance, we have not been attentive to the empty cups that are out there.

On this day and many other days. Help us when we start letting details of the holidays, frustrations, or unmet expectations distract us to be abundantly and eternally grateful.

Help us to have a heart full of thankfulness every day, but especially on the specific day set aside to be grateful for You. Help us to be mindful that this day does not necessarily bring gratitude and thankfulness in the heart of our native siblings.
