A mom, barely holding it together, earns $20 an hour—a wage she once thought would change everything. But after taxes, it’s just $3,000 a month. Her marriage is gone, and with only $400 in child support, she can’t afford to fight for more. She doesn’t qualify for help, though she desperately needs it.

Tonight, she sits alone, staring at the bills piling up. Her car’s brakes are shot—she needs them fixed for work, but has no way to fix it.
Winter’s coming, and her kids need coats. Her child brings home a field trip form asking for $10, and Christmas is just around the corner.
