While our AC unit may keep us cool, it often isn't the most attractive part of our outdoor living area. You can grow plants or a garden around your AC unit, but keep in mind your AC unit needs at least a 2 feet perimeter to allow for proper circulation.

Clean up the debris on and around the unit regularly to prevent problems. Trim the plants as needed to keep them away from the unit. Bushes, in particular, need regular pruning to maintain the shape and appropriate spacing between the branches and the central air unit.

Make sure to change your home air filters often! You may not have thought about them for a while, but keeping your filters changed can 1) lower energy costs, 2) improve HVAC system efficiency and 3) maintain healthy air quality in your home!
