Walter A. Bruenger, 81, of Lake Mills went to heaven on Monday, June 8, 2026.
He was born on February 22, 1945, to the late Walter Sr and Alma (nee Holt) Bruenger. Walter grew up in Lake Mills and graduated from Lakeside Lutheran High School in 1963. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin – Platteville for 2 years until 1965 when he Joined the Air Force and honorably served in southeast Asia from 1965-1968. December 14th 1968 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Katherine Luetzow. He worked for Hamlin Inc, then Standish Industries then Planar for over 30 years until retirement. As a young man Walter loved water skiing and being on the lake. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting antiques later in life with his wife Kathy. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Those Walter leaves behind are his loving wife of 57 years, Katherine Bruenger; three children, Samuel Bruenger, Claire (Marcus) Smith, and Joseph Bruenger; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (John) Francis, Carissa (Logan) Lindau, Jordan (Ricky) Smith, and Taylor (Sederick) Ervin; three great-grandchildren, Jameson, Everett, and Miles; nephew Jason Bruenger, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gregory (Toni) Bruenger.
A private service will be held for family and friends.
