Jessie is as cute as a button!! 😍😍😍

Don't you agree?!!

Today, we met specialist surgeon Dr. Uhl at Summit Veterinary Specialty Center in Sacramento to discuss her plugged up little nostril. Marilyn went with us to provide Jessie emotional support.

If you've been following us for any amount of time, you can see how much we love and care for our sanctuary animals. 💜 And we're always looking for ways to improve their quality of life.

We believe based on the CT scan and the information provided by Linda Johns, the Tucson based animal communicator, Jessie was born with a wry nose. She's lived with breathing through one nostril her whole life. She breathes through her mouth quite a bit. And it always sounds like Darth Vader is nearby. 😂

But we wanted to see if we could provide her a better quality of life. She's had a very rough go... living at a hoarder's property with 80+ dogs. Giving birth to 10 puppies as Animal Protection Officers descended on to the property to seize all of the dogs.. to having her pups taken away from her... to then ending up at the very overcrowded Pima Animal Care Center for a few months.

She was very skinny and extremely fearful. She's lived a life where she was invisible and did not feel worthy of being seen or loved.

Thanks to our generous donors, we had Jessie undergo a CT scan a few months ago. And today, we met Dr. Uhl to talk about her cute little nose. We came to the conclusion that surgery may only improve her breathe marginally and the risks involved may not be worth it.

Despite snoring loudly, she is not restless and she sleeps quite comfortably. He recommended that we keep her indoors when it gets too hot and to monitor her for any changes.

Additionally, I spoke to Linda again today, after the vet appointment. She did Jessie rated her blockage at a 5/6 with 10 being the worst. She also agreed the surgery would not be worth it.

I'm just so proud of how far Jessie has come. She was fearful at today's appointment but readily took treats from the staff. She was better at letting me leash her up. Getting her into my car took two of us. Thank you Caitlin for helping me. But overall, Jessie was very good and did not appear overly stressed with the 1 hr car ride and appointment.

So thank you all for donating towards Jessie's diagnostics. We will continue loving her and getting her acclimated to being a Lucky One!
