For Halloween Week 2020 and the end of Hurricane season I bring you a reminder of a true horror from the past. This print shows the destruction caused by a hurricane and tidal wave to Galveston, Texas, in 1900, wreckage to buildings, survivors, and the bodies of victims; also shows vignettes at the corners and across the bottom: Shown are men employed carrying the bodies to barges for burial in the Gulf (top left), 2650 dead bodies honored at sea in the Gulf (top right), Bodies incinerated in lieu of burial (bottom right), Shooting sea gulls found despoiling the dead (bottom left)

This photo was taken on this day in 1922. The man looks like Teddy Roosevelt, but can't be since he had died 3 years earlier. Strange though, because the woman looks a lot like his sister.
