NDSU agrees to join Mountain West Conference for football North Dakota State athletic director Matt Larsen says the Bison are headed to the FBS conference next season.

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, North Dakota State has agreed to join the Mountain West Conference football for the 2026 season at the price tag of $12 million plus the $5 million owed to the NCAA for a move to the FBS.

An announcement is expected on Monday.

BREAKING NEWS: NDSU is set to join the Mountain West in football only starting this fall for the 2026 season, per ESPN's Pete Thamel. A formal announcement and press conference from NDSU athletics is set for tomorrow.

Hello all 👋 I Have been quiet.

The past couple months have been hard. I stepped away from this due to the passing of my father (NDSU grad). I have always loved the bison and the passion for them has grown more feeling closer to my father. He passed away the week of the SDSU-NDSU game and let me tell you he was with the team that night It has been a tough time but I am back and ready to get posting content again!

Now first order of business HOW ABOUT THEM BISON!!!! Going undefeated and winning the Missouri Valley. I tell you what. Hell of a season by them. From and electrifying start to pounding the Bunnies to finding the grit and toughness to beat the fighting hawks in grand forks!

The season isn’t over it is just beginning. This is the time for the true Bison to show the opponents what green and gold are all about. It’s go time. I have 100% confidence that polasek is gonna lead this team to another national title. Let’s get it Bison Nation 🤘🏻🤘🏻
