Dawson, Deutsch, Secor May win Fargo Park Board seats 06/10/2026

Holy cow, WE DID IT!!! I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to be elected to the Fargo Park Board!

This campaign began as a personal goal—to challenge myself to find new and more meaningful ways to give back to our community. What I’ve gained through this experience has far exceeded anything I could have imagined. I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people whose creativity, passion, and empathy make an immeasurable impact on our community every day.

From city and nonprofit leaders to local organizations and neighbors, the way our community shows up for one another truly exemplifies the power of connection. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve and lead.

Thank you to my parents, who instilled in me the importance of giving back; to my husband and kids, who supported me and kept everything running smoothly at home throughout this campaign; and to my family and friends, whose encouragement and support mean more than I can express.

Dawson, Deutsch, Secor May win Fargo Park Board seats Vicki Dawson and Joe Deutsch are incumbent Park Board members, while Emily Secor May is new to the board.

While listening to community members during my hours of door knocking, I’ve gained meaningful insights that have further shaped the priorities I’m ready to bring to the Fargo Park Board:

• Keeping Fargo Parks affordable and accessible so every member of our community can enjoy our programs and spaces.

• Supporting our seniors by continuing to create and maintain welcoming, affordable, and accessible spaces in every neighborhood—including indoor walking options during our colder months.

• Strengthening communication and transparency so community members are clearly informed about projects being considered or planned, not left relying on rumors or unanswered questions.

• Thinking big and creatively about our future—our community is ready for bold ideas that elevate Fargo and make it a place people are excited to visit, work, and call home.

I’m energized by what I’ve heard, hopeful about what we can build together, and ready to serve!

Listening. Learning. Leading.

When I first started this world of campaigning, one of the things that seemed most out of my comfort zone was door knocking. Now, it has turned out to be one of my favorite things! It is so enjoyable and insightful to talk with people and learn their ideas and perspectives!

Thanks to all the folks in North Fargo who gave me a chance to introduce myself and learn from you tonight!

Forum editorial: Our candidate choices for Fargo School Board, Fargo Park Board 05/23/2026

So proud and happy to have been chosen by The Forum as a recommended candidate to elect for Fargo Park Board!

“We favor candidates who we feel will carefully manage taxpayer money, not cater to special interests and work on behalf of the majority of those they serve.”

“Emily Secor May would also be a new member of the Park Board. She understands the need to protect past taxpayer investments by keeping up aging facilities while also strategically investing in newer amenities. We also like that Secor May wants to reduce barriers related to cost, physical access and programming. Taxpayer-supported facilities should be open to all citizens, not just those who can afford to participate.”

As hectic as things get this time of year, I’ll never complain about sitting in the setting sun to watch one of my littles play some ball. The feeling of watching my kids benefit from the programs I grew up with brings so much happiness to my heart!
