My first church school was in Barronette, WI, for the 1965/1966 school year. The week before classes began, we cleaned out an old brick house used for chickens and installed a bathroom and a heating system. The day school started, there were thirteen students in all eight grades. In the spring, the dirt road past the school became so muddy that students had to be let off about half a mile away and walk in. But we had an incredible year.
