Looking forward to volunteering with the fine folks at Your Community Wood Bank (Shady Tree Service) this Saturday May 30, 2026. Dallas4Elbert has been committed to positive community outreach through great experiences like this.

The woodbank is a service provided to Elbert County Residents who need help keeping warm in the winter months. Year round you can purchse through donation bundled wood for your summer smores roasts or campfire nights out with the stars. These purchases go straight into assisting the winter needs of the community.

Today we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to this nation. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer or a long weekend. It is a solemn reminder that freedom has always come at a cost paid by heroes who never made it home.

We honor their sacrifice, remember their families, and reflect on the blessings we enjoy because of their courage and selflessness. May we never take those freedoms for granted.

Discussions surrounding growth, land use, and regulation should always consider both community needs and constitutional freedoms.

Strong communities are built when freedom, responsibility, and local decision-making work together.

REGULATION HAS REAL ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES

Every new restriction, regulation, fee, or mandate placed on property development impacts the market.

As costs rise:
• Building becomes more expensive
• Housing prices increase
• Property taxes rise alongside surrounding values
• First-time home ownership becomes more difficult

Reasonable codes and regulations are necessary for safety and responsible development. But decision makers should also recognize that excessive regulation can create inflationary pressure that affects families, renters, builders, and future homeowners alike.

Home ownership has long been one of the strongest pathways to building generational wealth in America.

LOCAL LAND USE MATTERS

Over the last two legislative sessions, Colorado lawmakers have proposed efforts to centralize land use authority at the state level.

Many believe those decisions should remain local, where communities understand their own infrastructure, water resources, roads, schools, emergency services, and long-term needs.

Local control allows counties and municipalities to make decisions that reflect the character and priorities of their own communities instead of one-size-fits-all mandates.

Land use decisions affect everyone. That is why transparency, accountability, and local representation matter.
