Bridget Hanley: Best known for 'Here Come the Brides' role, her family donated log cabin to city - My Edmonds News 12/14/2023

Bridget Hanley, a 1959 Edmonds High graduate who was best known for her role on the ABC television series Here Come the Brides, passes away in Dec. 2021. Her family donated the log cabin that now serves as the downtown Edmonds Visitors Center. The Hanleys had purchased some property from Gaston Ganahl in 1945 in Seaview Heights area. Ganahl built another home for himself on the remaining property, now the site of Seaview Elementary School. Along with the main house, the property came with a small log cabin that Ganahl had built in 1931.

Did you know you can step inside an original jail cell on the lower floor of the Edmonds Museum?! The cell is complete with two bunks, a sink, toilet and original graffiti on the walls—was constructed in 1922 when the Edmonds Police Department was located in the Carnegie Library and City Hall building now the Edmonds Museum. My Dad said they use to call it the drunk tank! Don't ask me how he knows that... 😏

Believe it or not, the Edmonds waterfront beach used to be made up of almost all sawmills. The first one was built by George Brackett himself in 1889. The last mill standing was the Quality Shingle Mill which closed in 1951. (info/photo credit: Edmonds Museum)
