Mothers are human, first.
We give birth and, almost immediately, are expected to move on while our bodies are still bleeding, healing, and reshaping... while our identities are quietly breaking open and reforming.... while we learn how to care for a life we just brought into the world. And still, society expects us to have it together.
Professional postpartum care exists because we refuse to treat mothers like machines that should keep running. It exists because love alone cannot replace rest, healing, or regulation. When you are supported, and I mean truly supported, everything around you steadies too: your baby, your partner, your family.
Care for the mother is care for the whole system.
