Waiting for June is a majority of easy listening with some emotional connections to lyrics and songwriting messages. Some storytelling aspects about the song and it's origin, either why it was written, what it meant to the writers and how it applies to life. Most importantly, it's beautiful music and that's where I want the focus to be , not on us !

The band name has a double meaning because as Minnesotans aren't we all always waiting for June 🌞
But for me ; I will be waiting the rest of my life for my angel June.

Back in December 2022 I reached out to my talented friend Grant Edwards about a project I had been dreaming up for a while and without hesitation he was onboard. He IS the reason why I get to do this and a total blessing. He jokingly calls himself my "hired gun" πŸ˜‚ but is so much more than that ! He's probably the most easy going, understanding, dedicated musician I am fortunate enough to do this with.

I explained to him that throughout my life, music has always been my outlet and that included just simply listening or connecting to it lyrically. During any of my life struggles as many others probably do, I would find myself clinging to certain songs to help me through.

After going through my traumatic journey for our daughter June that ended in loss and delivering her stillborn, my heart was consumed by sadness. My soul was shifted and everything I listened to had a different meaning , a deeper connection and told an emotional story.

Music became part of my therapy to heal .

I have done many different versions of music projects, bands or DJin over the last 14 + years with the only goal being "keep people dancing" even if that meant singing songs I had zero want for, that did nothing to flatter my vocal style. Ending in late nights & strictly focusing on crowd favorites .
Although, I loved every minute of it, in that moment. My life is different now and so is the world. People are more receptive to chill music and definitely more compassionate to mental health journeys.

80% of the songs I picked are beautiful & have a message that applies to so many things that are part of being human. The other 20% are just really fun to sing. Lol

My hope is to play music that people can feel & relate to and maybe even be moved enough to tell me their story too.
Even if one song touches one person… it's worth it.
But for me ; it is still my therapy and June makes me stronger every time I sing.πŸŽ—οΈπŸ’›
