Sarah's Southern Kitchen

Today was one of those really cool full-circle moments for me. 🩵⚖️🍪
I had the amazing opportunity to blend my small business with my full-time career by baking cookies for our new judge’s swearing-in ceremony today.
Getting to see something that started in my little kitchen be a part of such an important milestone was incredibly special and definitely one of those moments that makes you stop and smile for a minute.
On the menu:
🍓 Strawberry Lemonade Cookies
🍫 Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
🍌 Banana Pudding Cookies
Congratulations to our new judge on this exciting new chapter, and thank you for allowing Sarah’s Southern Kitchen to be a small part of such a memorable day. 🩵

Y’all know I don’t sit still very well, but sometimes even bakers need a little time off. 🩵
Sarah’s Southern Kitchen will be taking a short break from baking, which means there will be no orders for July 10th & 11th. Orders will reopen on July 17th.
Life has been very full lately — in the best possible way. Between family activities, appointments, celebrations, and all the fun that comes with summer, our calendar is packed and my heart is happy… but this season also deserves my full attention and presence.
This little break will give me a chance to rest, reset, spend some quality time with my family, and come back to the kitchen refreshed and ready to roll into the rest of summer.
Thank you all for continuing to support my little business, keeping my books full, and understanding that sometimes the woman behind the sourdough starter needs a little recharge too.
We’ll be back at it on July 17th and ready to bake up all your favorites then! 🩵🌻
Before I say anything else, I just want to say thank you.🥹🩵
Thank you for the orders, the shares, the recommendations, the messages, and for continuing to support Sarah’s Southern Kitchen the way y’all do. What started as a small dream in my kitchen has grown into something I never expected, and I don’t take a single bit of that support for granted.
Y’all have supported me more than I could have ever imagined, and for that I will always be grateful!!!!
But I’m gonna be honest with y’all for a minute.
Between waking up at 3:30 every morning and not getting to bed until 11:00 PM or midnight most nights, working my full-time job, running the bakery, taking care of kids and family, and dealing with quite a bit in my personal life lately, I’ve officially reached the point of maximum exhaustion. I’ve been trying to push through it because that’s just who I am, but my body has other plans and I’m physically getting sick from running myself into the ground.
Because of that, I do need to move a few deliveries around, and I appreciate those customers more than you know for being patient and flexible with me while I get things adjusted.
My husband and I have been reaching out to customers individually to make those schedule changes, so if you have an order coming up, please keep an eye on your messages. Thank you all in advance for your flexibility, understanding, and grace while we work through this.
I’ve also made the decision to take a week off from baking.
There will be no orders this Friday or Saturday, and orders will officially reopen on Friday, July 17th.
I hate doing this because I love what I do and I love serving this community, but I also know that if I don’t take care of myself now, my body is eventually going to make me do it anyway.
Thank you for supporting my little business, thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your families’ tables and celebrations, and thank you for giving me the grace to step away for a minute and get myself back on track.
I appreciate every single one of y’all more than you know. 🩵

🩵 STORAGE GUIDE FOR YOUR SARAH’S SOUTHERN KITCHEN GOODIES 🩵
One of the questions I get asked most often is, “How should I store my order?”
Here’s a quick guide to help keep your goodies fresh and delicious!
🥖 Sourdough Bread & Loaves
• Store at room temperature in the bag provided or transfer to a gallon-size Ziplock bag.
• Best enjoyed within 3–5 days.
• Avoid refrigerating, as refrigeration can dry bread out more quickly.
Freezing:
• Sourdough freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
• Freeze whole or pre-slice for easy grab-and-go portions.
• Store in a freezer-safe bag with as much air removed as possible.
Reheating:
• Thaw at room temperature.
• Warm a whole loaf in a 350°F oven for 10–15 minutes.
• Individual slices can be toasted or warmed in the oven for a few minutes until heated through.
🍪 Cookies & Other Baked Goods
• Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
• Best enjoyed within 5–7 days.
🧁 Frosted Items & Cream Cheese Frosting
• Store in the refrigerator.
• Bring to room temperature before serving for the best flavor and texture.
• For cinnamon rolls and similar treats, microwave for 10–15 seconds before enjoying.
💪 Protein Items
• Protein cookies, protein bites, protein cinnamon rolls, and other protein goodies can be frozen for up to 3 months.
• Store in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container.
• Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature before enjoying.
• Many customers keep protein treats in the freezer and grab them as needed throughout the month.
❄️ FREEZER-FRIENDLY FAVORITES
Most items from Sarah’s Southern Kitchen freeze wonderfully!
• Store in a freezer-safe container or bag.
• Label with the date.
• Freeze for up to 3 months for best quality.
Many of my customers stock up during ordering windows and freeze extras so they always have their favorites on hand. Whether it’s sourdough, cookies, protein treats, or rolls for a special occasion, freezing is a great way to enjoy fresh homemade goodies whenever you want them!
Thank you for supporting Sarah’s Southern Kitchen.
Your support means more than you’ll ever know. 🩵

Happy Sunday, friends. 🩵
As most of you know, Sarah’s Southern Kitchen is closed on Sundays. It’s our day to reset, spend time with family, recharge for another busy week… and somewhere along the way, Sundays turned into story time over here.
Today, I wanted to share something a little more personal.
The woman on the left is over 100 pounds heavier than the woman on the right.
I didn’t lose over 100 pounds by starving myself or by giving up everything I loved.
I changed my lifestyle.
And because I believe in being transparent, I also want to be honest about my journey.
For about 3½ years, I used a GLP-1 medication as part of my weight-loss journey. I will never shame anyone for taking one. It helped me, and for many people it can be an incredible tool when used alongside the guidance of a healthcare provider. There is absolutely no judgment here.
I came off of it when I had my eye surgery because I had to, and looking back, I’m actually thankful that happened.
Personally, I realized I wasn’t nourishing my body the way it deserved. I barely ate because I simply wasn’t hungry. While the scale was going down, I was also losing muscle that I now wish I had protected better. My body became smaller, but it wasn’t becoming stronger.
Today, my focus has completely shifted.
I’m in a full-body recomposition phase. I’m rebuilding the muscle I lost, improving my strength, supporting my bone health, and focusing on becoming stronger—not just smaller.
That’s why my weight has fluctuated, and honestly… I’m okay with that.
The number on the scale isn’t my goal anymore.
Feeling healthy is.
Feeling strong is.
Living a long, active life is.
These days I average at least 180 grams of protein every single day, I track my nutrition, I stay active, I strength train, I drink close to 2 gallons of water every day, and I focus on nourishing my body instead of depriving it.
Another huge piece of my health journey has been getting my hormones checked. I’ve now been on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for about 3½ months, and I truly feel like a brand-new woman. I have more energy, my mind is clearer, my workouts are better, and I finally feel like myself again.
If you’re doing everything you know to do but you’re still exhausted, struggling to lose weight, dealing with brain fog, or just don’t feel like yourself, please don’t ignore it. Have a conversation with your healthcare provider. Getting my hormones checked completely changed my life, and it may be worth exploring if you’re experiencing similar symptoms.
I also want everyone to hear this…
You do NOT have to survive on plain chicken and broccoli to live a healthy lifestyle.
You don’t have to fear bread.
You don’t have to swear off cookies.
You don’t have to feel guilty for enjoying food.
You simply have to learn how to make the foods you love fit your lifestyle.
That is exactly why Sarah’s Southern Kitchen exists.
When I started this bakery, I knew one thing…
I didn’t want to be a traditional bakery.
I wanted to create healthier versions of comfort foods that my own family could enjoy without sacrificing flavor. I wanted to prove that healthy doesn’t have to taste bland, boring, or feel restrictive.
I don’t just want to bake food that tastes good—I want to help people build a healthier relationship with food.
That’s also why we’ve committed to providing macro information for every single menu item by the end of this year. Right now, our protein products already include macros, and we’re working through the rest of our menu one recipe at a time.
I want to take the guesswork out of healthy eating.
Whether your goal is losing weight, building muscle, maintaining your weight, increasing your protein, or simply feeding your family cleaner, homemade food, I want you to have the information you need to make the best decision for your goals.
Because healthy eating shouldn’t feel confusing.
It should feel empowering.
So if I can leave you with anything today, it’s this…
🤍 Move your body.
🤍 Lift the weights.
🤍 Eat the protein.
🤍 Drink the water.
🤍 Get your hormones checked if something feels off.
🤍 Give yourself grace.
🤍 Stop chasing perfection.
Start chasing strength.
Start chasing health.
Start chasing the life you deserve.
After losing over 100 pounds, I’ve learned that the goal isn’t to eat as little as possible.
The goal is to nourish your body well enough that it can do amazing things for you.
I’m still learning.
I’m still growing.
I’m still rebuilding.
And that’s okay.
If my journey encourages even one person to take that first walk, make that doctor’s appointment, prioritize protein, or believe they’re capable of changing their life, then sharing these photos is worth every bit of vulnerability.
Thank you for allowing me to share a little piece of my heart every Sunday.
Here’s to becoming stronger together.
Love,
Sarah 🩵

🩵 ORDERS ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED! 🩵
Y’all… I am truly blown away.
Every single ordering window, I find myself wondering if this will be the week things slow down just a little… and every single week, y’all prove me wrong. You continue to fully book me in record time, and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.
We just dropped off our very last Fourth of July order, and my heart is so full. Thank you to every single one of you who made Sarah’s Southern Kitchen a part—or even a small part—of your Fourth of July celebrations. It means the world to me that my homemade goodies get to be part of your family gatherings, backyard cookouts, pool days, and holiday memories.
I also want to say thank you for your patience this week while I’ve been teaching my helpers. Watching them learn, grow, and become part of this journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I appreciate the grace and encouragement you’ve shown us along the way.
When I started Sarah’s Southern Kitchen, I never imagined this little dream would grow into what it has today. Every order, every share, every recommendation, and every kind word has helped make this possible. I’ll never take your support for granted.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in me and continuing to show up week after week. Y’all are the reason this little dream keeps growing, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
❤️🤍💙 Happy 250th Birthday, America! I hope each and every one of you has a safe, fun, and memory-filled Fourth of July.
And of course… happy wedding day to our favorite couple, Taylor & Travis! 💁🏼♀️ Us Swifties are celebrating too! 😂🫶
Now go make some memories with the people you love.
P.S. Don’t drink and drive… pass out safely in the yard like a true American. 😂🇺🇸
