🌴🌧️ Florida Friends… It’s That Time Again! 🌧️🌴

The weather app is acting dramatic, the sky is looking suspicious, and every Floridian is doing the same thing… 👀

“Is that a storm… or just Florida being Florida?” 😂

Before we start chasing patio furniture across the yard and making friends with our neighbors’ trash cans… here’s your friendly insurance reminder:

✅ Snap a few photos of your home & belongings BEFORE the weather arrives
✅ Know where your insurance policy is (not buried under 300 Amazon boxes 😆)
✅ Check your coverages & deductibles
✅ Remember: Flood is NOT covered by your standard homeowners policy 🌊

No panic. No hurricane snacks hoarding (okay… maybe a few snacks). Just a little preparation. 😉

Defender Insurance Group is here to help you stay covered — whether it’s sunshine, sideways rain, or a classic Florida “surprise shower.” ☀️⛈️

Stay safe, Florida! 💙

The National Hurricane Center is now issuing advisories for "Potential Tropical Cyclone One." This system is anticipated to become a brief tropical storm in the northwestern Gulf. If this system earns a name, it'll be "Tropical Storm Arthur." The key impact, whether it's named or not, is very heavy rainfall with the potential for flash and urban flooding across Texas, Louisiana, and into central Mississippi.

Closer to home, the Florida Panhandle will see indirect impacts from the deep tropical moisture tied to this system.

Expect rounds of showers and storms each day through Saturday, some of them heavy. A few storms today could be strong to severe, with gusty winds and locally heavy downpours the main concerns. The heaviest rain looks to focus near the stalled front over south Alabama and southwest Georgia, where a few inches can pile up fast under training storms, though anyone can catch a soaking. Inland areas in the Northwestern Florida Panhandle (Jay, Milton) could see 3 to 5 inches through the week, locally higher, which keeps localized and urban flooding on the table where the heaviest rain repeats.

It's worth noting that it will not rain all day, every day through Saturday. While rain chances are high, we're anticipating plenty of windows of dry time too. This forecast is evolving quickly as this system develops to our west, so keep your plans flexible - but don't worry about a total washout through the rest of the week.

Bottom line: nothing tropical is taking direct aim at us, but periods of wet weather are possible with locally heavy rainfall through Saturday.
