Phlox Subulata - people often impulse by flowers/perennials....including myself. The key with phlox that we have learned is that it loves to live in well drained, almost arid conditions receiving little water after it is established. Loves living in cracks of rocks and in poor soil conditions. Do not over water, do not plant in amended organic soils. Achieves a great bloom for several weeks and needs no trimming - a no brainer as long as you dont micro-manage it.

Also, very deer tolerant. Remember to find the Exact latin name listed above. It is very important. Support your local garden center, they would love to see you during this difficult time.
