For your Sunday morning: my original song "Selfish As I Am" performed at the Otterbein Church on the campus of my hometown museum, yesterday.
"Old Man of the River"
Had three minutes of inspiration and decided to re-record this old original song in one take. Well, my aim was off. But, anyway, here it is.
Lyrics:
I've spent some time on the Des Moines River,
Caught a catfish or two.
Met the old man of the river,
who taught me a thing or two.
He's already caught the biggest fish that he's ever seen.
Ain't got a thing to prove.
Sometimes he heads out in the morning,
sometimes in the afternoon.
Says he doesn't care if he catches a thing,
yet somehow, he always seems to.
Once or twice, I heard him say,
you gotta let the fish swim to you.
Don't waste your time on worry or hurry,
just let em swim to you.
When you hold that big ol catfish,
got her whiskers in your hand...
Don't let her bite your thumb off,
because she'll sure show you if she can.
"Sittin' by the Fire"
This demo is from January... finally ready to share it.

Ten years ago, I played on a semi-trailer stage at the Chariton Fourth of July celebration. A highlight of my musical career, for sure. Happy Independence Day to you all!!

I used to make some decent promotional graphics for my shows. Here's one of my faves, from 8 years ago.

Here's a quick tribute to Hal Ketchum, who left us, this week. Maybe all of us wanna-be country singers can post our versions of this song, and give everyone something good to look at on facebook, for awhile.
