During Sunday's service, Pastor Calvin invited us to explore our relationship with truth.

As we dive deeper into the text of 1 Thessalonians during our series, A New Church: From Planting to Maturity, we are discussing what it looks like to build a church community from the ground up (in much the same way that Paul observed in the Thessalonians).

Calvin invited us to examine the difference between focusing on living in truth vs. telling the truth just for the sake of being right. Sometimes the latter can lead us to alienate those who are most important to us, which is never the goal when we want to live in community with others and love those around us generously.

Do you ever find yourself wanting to be "right" at the expense of hurting someone? We all do, but this is a powerful reminder to set our sights on living in truth as a way to get closer to God rather than a way to prove that we're right.
