𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲.

For years, I thought camping just wasn't for me anymore. It had been nearly a decade since I'd gone, because somewhere along the way I stopped being invited. Eventually, I stopped asking to go. I accepted the story that maybe I just couldn't handle it.

But this past weekend, I decided to rewrite that story.

I set up my tent by myself. I slept outside. I spent the weekend camping, off-roading, laughing around campfires, and soaking in the beauty of Colorado.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, I realized something...

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲.

It was a story I had accepted. A story shaped by time, circumstances, and other people's assumptions. But it wasn't the truth.

The truth is, I still love adventure.

I still love trying new things.

I still love stretching beyond what's comfortable.

As a literary manager, I spend a lot of time helping authors rewrite the stories they tell themselves:

"I'm not ready."
"Nobody will want my book."
"I'm too late."
"I can't do that."

This past weekend reminded me that 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁.

Sometimes growth starts with something as simple as saying yes to the thing you convinced yourself wasn't for you anymore.

So...what story are you ready to rewrite?

One of the biggest myths in publishing is that successful authors somehow have all the answers.

They don't.

What they do have is support. People to ask questions. People who have been where they want to go. People who can help them avoid expensive mistakes, save time, and see opportunities they might miss on their own.

Being resourceful is a wonderful skill. So is knowing when to stop carrying the entire load yourself.

What's one area of your author journey where you wish you had more support right now?

I was recently told that I'm pi***ng away my education.

The comment stuck with me—not because I believed it, but because it made me stop and think about the path that brought me here.

I wrote my first book in kindergarten.

In college, I studied journalism and literature, worked on the literary magazine, and immersed myself in the world of books.

Then came Disney. Penguin. A New York literary agency. Years spent learning how stories are created, marketed, sold, and shared with the world.

And somehow, according to some people, all of that was supposed to lead me to climbing someone else's corporate ladder.

To get "a real job."

But when I look back, every step seems to have been pointing here.

To this. 💜📚

To building a business where I can help authors in the way they actually need help.

Not through a corporate filter.

Not through the priorities of shareholders, quarterly earnings reports, or publishing trends.

Just me, a trusted team of freelancers, and the authors who trust us with their dreams.

I've spent my entire career learning how publishing works.

Now I get to spend my days helping writers navigate it.

That doesn't feel like wasting an education.

It feels like finally using it exactly as intended.

My entire career has been preparing me for this. The only surprise is that it took me so long to realize it.
