Danny Joe's Lock and Key
Call backs can be frustrating in the sense that we always strive for consistent perfection. However, they can be a chance to give people an even better experience, as well as to learn new tricks and skills. Case and point, a while back I had a call back on a duplicate key I made for a Honda. The customer was only intermittently able to use the key to start the car. On the first trip out I erased the keys and made new ones. The issue started the next day. At this point, I knew the issue was not at all related to what I had done. But the customer needed her car and I wanted to help. In the column the starter wires had been poorly spliced so I replaced the spliced pig tail with factory wiring. Unfortunately, this still didn't resolve it. After this I found the problem with some research and diagnostics. The issue was a main relay. It was a strange part in a strange place. In fact it was behind the instrument panel! It was so weird I made a YouTube video showing the process I used to test and identify the issue. Months later I get a call from Massachusetts and as it turns out, this video was able to help someone over a thousand miles away. Not only that, this video had gotten a whopping 3,500 views! This was on my first ever YouTube video. It honestly made my day knowing that what started as a routine call back led to helping so many others!
