Sparkle Drip

Hey everyone, Karl here! I just wanted to give a little background on these joggers as it is one of my favorite designs to come out of the Sparkle Lab. Creating top tier functional party pants was the original reason I taught myself to sew way back in 2012. As a young festival attendee I was always looking at thrift shops for fun pants that would provide freedom of movement for all day & night dancing comfort. The thing I ran into time and time again is that even if I found a fun pair of pants, there was always a major downside which was the lack of functional pockets to keep my stuff safe and secure. I started by adding some simple pockets to the leggings I was making to hold my phone and a little stash pocket inside the waistband to keep my secrets secure. Eventually I created a more traditional pant pattern that was my go to for several years. I traveled to SE Asia in 2015 where I fell in love with the comfort and baggy fit of harem pants, and in 2017 I started making my own version.

In 2018 I finally dialed in this design and it quickly became a favorite across the board. It was also around this time that I figured out how to sew zipper pockets and the current iteration was complete. These pants feature a total of 6 pockets to cater to the many things I frequently carried with me in festival environments. 2 upper pockets (perfect for securely holding a phone on one side and my keys, crystals & a v**e in the other), 2 zippered cargo pockets (on one side I keep my wallet, stickers & a ziplock bag of wet wipes, the other holds my chapstick, earplugs, eyedrops, gum and whatever other small loose items I wanted handy). The last 2 pockets are small stash pockets inside the waistband which are perfect for small crystals, a floss pick, and any tiny secret items I wanted to keep secure.

These 6 pockets take almost as long to add to the pants as sewing the pants together, and finally I have a place for every single thing I want to have on me whether I’m going out to a show or when I’m away from my camp for hours at a festival. I finally solved the age old problem creating a comfortable, fun & functional pair of pants which are solidly constructed to last 1000 dance parties. The waistband is also stretchy and features a drawstring which keeps them secure no matter how much stuff I cram in the pockets.

Every single pair of these pants are built from scratch and are the result of over a decade of trial and error getting feedback from others and fine tuning the pattern which has resulted in the best party pants I could imagine. By combining different solid & patterned fabrics each pair has an eye catching aesthetic and are truly a unique one of a kind piece of wearable art.
